EDWARD BYERS - Click to learn more
Plank owner - Co-Founder and Executive DIRECTOR
I spent nearly 22 years in the Navy. As a Hospital Corpsman and Navy SEAL. I served at Great Lakes Naval Hospital, 2/2 Marines Golf Co., SEAL Team 4, SEAL Team 6, and the Pentagon J-39. In 2016, I had the distinct and humbling honor of becoming the 1st living U.S. Navy service member in nearly 40 years to receive the Medal of Honor, the 1st Recipient from SEAL Team Six, and the 6th Navy SEAL in history to earn our nation’s highest military honor. I have been inducted into the Special Operations Hall of Honor, the Special Operations Medical Hall of Honor, and the Pentagon Hall of Heroes; however, these are honors I did not accomplish alone. My desire to pay it forward is rooted in the SEAL mantra of "Choose to Carry More". I believe the lives of our Nation's most elite warriors are Untold Journeys that more than likely will never be told, and after the uniform is hung up, are yet to be told. I am just doing my part to help honor all they and their families have sacrificed in defense of our freedoms. To do so, help us create the Nation's premier Tier 1 Special Operations charity by donating or becoming a plankowner, title, or corporate sponsor. With Gratitude and Thanks, Ed "Strength Through Humility"

ENRIQUE HERRERA
AMBASSADOR & GRANT RECIPIENT
On July 6, 2025, the Longleaf Golf Club Dam (MOORE 008) — rated a hazard by the NC Department of Environmental Quality since 2011 — catastrophically failed, sending seven feet of floodwater across the Herrera family's Pinehurst, NC property and five feet into their home at 20–30 mph. Enrique, his wife Susan, and his father-in-law Harry narrowly escaped the surge, which destroyed their entire lower level and buried nearly 40 years of irreplaceable military memorabilia, photos, and keepsakes in mud. Living outside any mapped flood zone, the family carried no flood insurance, and Susan suffered serious injuries while fleeing that aggravated a prior cervical fusion, forcing her to leave her job. With rebuilding costs approaching $451,000 and the family shouldering significant expenses while insurance claims and legal action proceed, the Untold Journey Foundation provided Enrique and Susan Herrera with substantial support to help them recover.
